"SITTING IS THE NEW SMOKING"
Find yourself sitting an excessive amount these days? Then maybe consider doing things a little differently. Research shows a heap of ways an underactive body can mess with your life. Big time.

How?
Too much sitting is associated with numerous problems, ranging from weight gain, to osteoporosis, to cardiovascular disease. PLUS, sitting too much can either create muscular issues or exacerbate already existing ones. Might you have any body pain or tension?

Here’s some simple, yet super effective ideas for helping yourself:
1. Challenge yourself to take regular standing or walking breaks. Stand up for at least two minutes every hour. If possible, take a brief walk, scale the stairs, reach for the heavens. Stretch the front of your body that’s been shortened, cramped and bent for the past hour. Absolutely….even short breaks like this can make a huuuuge difference. (Tip: set an alarm on your phone for reminders to get up, up, UP!)

2. Sit more actively. Yep, there’s more than one way to take a seat. Consider sitting on a balance ball, ergonomic stool, or active sitting disc for periods of time instead of just in a regular chair. All these options will force you to make small postural adjustments while you're sitting, helping diminish some of the harmful effects of being chair-bound.

3. Work, read, and surf at a standing station. Place your computer or book on a counter, your bed, a bookshelf. Or if you feel like getting fancy, either build yourself an official standing station or simply buy one. It will be soooooo worth your time and money.
Be good to yourself and Happy Moving!
